Last week, among the 29 startups carefully selected by KIC-Europe after a long series of auditions in June of this year, 27 of them participated in the Final Pitch Week held in Pangyo, South Korea from 17 to 19 August. Most of these teams were from Western and Eastern Europe, the others coming from different parts in Africa and the Middle East.
This 3-day event culminated in a selection of 40 finalists for the accelerator programme, the first major phase of the K-Startup Grand Challenge which will be taking place in the Pangyo Startup Campus near Korea’s thriving capital, Seoul. This moment we have been eagerly waiting for has finally come and we are more than happy to share the final results of this second round of auditions with you.
We would like to congratulate the following K-Startup Challengers:
These 12 startups were previously selected by KIC-Europe after the first round of auditions held in Brussels and London. The remaining 28 K-Startup Challengers come from various parts of the world and their names can be found HERE.
The 3-month accelerator programme is set to start on 1 September 2016 and will take place in the Pangyo Startup Campus. The startups will be taking part in mentoring, networking and learning activities aimed to shape their perspective on the Korean and Asian markets and of course to support them in their global expansion.
About the K-Startup Final Pitch Week
In total, more than 80 startups from all parts of the world were invited to South Korea to pitch in front of a jury during a 3-day event at the Pangyo Startup Campus. Each of these startups was allowed to send one team member whose travel, accommodation and visa-related costs would be covered by the Korean government. Many representatives from Korea’s largest accelerators, incubators and media platforms attended the event, which was opened by the President of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), Yoon Jonglok, and the Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP), Choi Yanghee.
In June of this year, KIC-Europe selected 29 startups from Europe, the Middle East and Africa to attend this large event.
